The first edition of Guwahati International Film Festival held in India has screened 7 Iranian films at its opening day.
Starting October 28, the festival screened Asghar Farhadi’s ‘The Salesman’ as its opening film in addition to six other Iranian films.
The 1st edition of the Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF) will review Iranian cinema in a special section titled ‘Contemporary Iranian Cinema’.
Selected Iranian feature films to be shown at the Indian event include titles such as ‘Parting’, a joint production of Iran and Afghanistan by Navid Mahmoudi, ‘Malaria’ by Parviz Shahbazi, ‘Daughter’ by Reza Mirkarimi, ‘Valderama’ by Abbas Amini.
The GIFF will also screen a large number of films from 35 countries, including Turkey, Estonia, Croatia, Czech, the US, Japan, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, France, Denmark, Poland, Slovenia, Switzerland and Peru.
The 1st edition of the Guwahati International Film Festival is slated for October 28-November 2.
